LAB 5: data processing 2
Picture of Map:
The projection is best suited for land masses extending in an east-to-west orientation at mid-latitude
Albers equal area conic is a good choice for map projection with this project because
Definition: The Albers projection is an equal area conic projection. It uses two standard parallels to reduce some of the distortion found in a projection with only one standard parallel. The projection is best suited for land masses extending in an east-to-west orientation at mid-latitudes.
*might not be totally level and may be slightly crooked as stated by Krygier
I had an issue with the data originally, had to delete and re-upload all data and make sure there was no issues with this set. This seemed to fix the issue.
Step 6:
Step 7:
I realized that I selected a county in this picture and required help to unselect it as I am always confused. Step 8 right now is difficult as I think I know what it means when it says to change the label but i am unsure if there is a specific area that is the label or if it just means that when it says no data I change that section. Or what if I need to change the section to the right of it? Who knows not me currently.
Step 9: The time field did not have a year_converted that I could change it to, only a year. I thought this worked but when I kept on doing the next steps, it got stuck. For the Time snapping, there is only a seconds and cannot be converted into decades or anything besides seconds. Figured out that when it says to not change anything but the year you should also change the range at which you map accesses the data for the time range. So instead of having the data range from 2020-2020 on the exact same day maybe it should start in the 1900’s.
I added the year_converted again and it worked but when I pressed play like the instructions told me it deleted my entire map. The data is still present and the GIS system says my maps exists but we cannot find it at all. It was decided to try and locate the map which worked once but then when trying to fix the bug again this time the map could not be found again. The GIS program was restated… nothing, we tried it again… nothing. Finally we restarted my computer and rebooted the GIS program only to find that it still wasn’t present. yet the program insisted that the Map was around. I really don’t want to restart this project for a fourth time but If it’s what it takes ill do it.
